The tronzador is a saw with a handle in both
extremes, used to cut down trees, and large long pieces of wood, for instance
to make beams for houses using suitable logs or trunks.
Two people are needed to operate it.
Public displays of tronzador and competitions are typical of the Basque
Country.
Many people from Sandoval emigrated in the 60's and 70's, and a lot of them
went to Vasconia as it's also known here, where they learned to love
their traditions and ways of life.
In the summer time, many come back to Sandoval de la Reina to spend some days,
and many weekends along the year too.
Santiago & Vicente are two of them and in 2000 prepared a display for us
where everybody was able to take part in.
Most likely the display will be held again in 2001 and, who knows?, perhaps a contest this
year will be held.
For now, some pics of 2000:

The organizers: Vicente & Santiago.
